Christmas at WDW is going to be missing a few things…

We still think any day at Disney World is better than not being there yet it is going to be different than any other year this Holiday season. A lot of it is due to the distancing protocols, some because of hours and still others because their is no resort hopping allowed. This is not necessarily bad because there will be new stuff in place of the the traditions. It is just plain going to be unique which could be a good reason to book for this holiday season. I love the Voices of Liberty so them doing a whole concert can definitely help with the changes.

Here is what is happening this holiday season:

Disney Resort hotels will be decked out for the holidays, with their lobbies featuring iconic trees and other festive flourishes. One thing to keep in mind is that our gingerbread displays will not return to the Resort hotels this year. While we know they are a favorite of people taking in the holiday décor, we’re not able to include those displays due to physical distancing guidelines.

Also up on the chopping block is Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, The Christmas Tree Trail in Disney Springs, and now Epcot’s Candlelight Processional but there is some good news of some other special Holiday events and attractions instead…

Official Word from Disney:

When night falls, special projection effects will give a festive look to Cinderella Castle this year, providing a colorful backdrop for our guests’ photos. The appearance of the iconic castle will be transformed with a rotating series of designs including a whimsical Christmas sweater and a regal overlay of red, green and gold ornamentation. This will be in place of the Castle Dream Lights. Other holiday experiences that draw big crowds will be on hiatus this year as well, such as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Candlelight Processional at EPCOT. We know these experiences are a cherished part of holiday traditions that will be missed by guests and cast members alike, but we’re glad to be able to bring holiday magic in other creative ways.

Guests will be invited to step inside World ShowPlace to enjoy the returning group, JOYFUL!, who present a journey through R&B, Gospel, contemporary and traditional Christmas, and holiday music. Also, the Voices of Liberty will bring their incredible 8-part harmonies to the America Gardens Theatre stage for a special concert of favorite carols and songs of the season. There are plenty more details about this festival to come

WHY pay full price?

So many who make the trek to Walt Disney World in Florida get caught up in package deals. The Disney Company makes it very easy to book your vacation on their site and the My Disney Experience can be magical. Yet many do not realize that they are spending too much for things they may not need in order for the convenience, when there are ways to save on room and tickets and not over pay. Let’s face it, a Disney Vacation is going to be expensive because of all the Disney Magic and where else are you going to go to receive such an experience. No where else in the World (not even Disneyland).

There is a place you can go to save and then use that money for other things. It is an often overlooked or discredited because it is unknown but it is one of the main sites recommended by our friends at touringplans.com and by the unofficial guide. You need to check out this link to Undercover Tourist http://buildyoursuccesswithdoug.com/undercoversavings

Explore the site and see the savings that can be had. Especially right now during their special “Back to Savings” event which ends August 27th. The next two days is the time to check out Undercover Tourist.

Special “Not always Seen” Character Meet and Greets

I borrowed this from my friends at Chip & Co. I believe this starting this week. Even if the schedule below changes on a particular day, note that there will be characters that are not always seen out in town square, so be watching for this during your visits to Most Magical place on Earth.

Doctor Disney is reporting a character meet and greet schedule for the duos to meet with guests: “The duos will be out daily from 11:30 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. in Town Square during Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration. It is set to run through September 30, 2019, which gives you plenty of time to visit these surprise guests.”

Take a look at the schedule for these surprise friends!
Sunday – Chicken Little & Abby Mallard
Monday – Robin Hood & Little John
Tuesday – Gideon & Honest John (Pinocchio)
Wednesday – Remy & Emile (Ratatouille)
Thursday – Prince John & Friar Tuck
Friday – Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde
Saturday – Phineas & Ferb
*Characters are subject to change. At this time, this will be the weekly schedule and it isn’t known if different characters will change out at any point this year.
